FAAC AND COMETA PROTECT THE EU 'EUROPA EXPERIENCE' IN THE CENTRE OF ROME

In Rome, in the central Piazza Venezia, inside the Assicurazioni Generali building, a new space dedicated to the European Union has opened to the public.

This is 'Europa Experience', an interactive area dedicated to the memory of the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, which aims to bring EU citizens closer to the European institutions and to see their workings up close. The project, shared with the European Commission, has brought to Italy a permanent centre that joins those in Berlin, Paris, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Ljubljana and Tallinn, all of which have been set up in historical and prestigious locations.

The 'Europa Experience' are multimedia spaces equipped with interactive devices that offer visitors a direct and fascinating view of how states and national institutions work together at European level. The space, created in Rome, occupies an area of over 1,000 square metres, divided into four rooms in which visitors can better understand how the Parliament, the Commission and the European Council work. In addition, they can 'immerse themselves' in the role of an MEP by taking part in simulated legislative processes: one can identify with a member of a political group, negotiate with other groups, participate in committees and then speak at the podium microphone in the virtual Parliament hall. The space, which is spread over the ground floor and basement, is also intended to host free exhibitions, shows and debates and will offer its meeting room to anyone wishing to reflect on today's Europe.

'Europa Experience' is a space of extraordinary architectural beauty in which security plays a key role, given the symbolic importance of the structure.

The ideal place to use FAAC automations. The choice of the Generali Group, owner of the historic building that houses "Europa Experience", and of the designers who imagined and realised the new premises, was directed precisely towards some FAAC Group solutions for the automation and protection of pedestrian entrances.

"The company in charge of the works proposed us doors and doorframes by FAAC and CoMETA," explains architect Franck Kuntz of Compass Ingegneria, who oversaw the 'Europa Experience' project. We found them to be perfectly suited to our design and security requirements, given also the high standards that the European Commission sets for its spaces. Also important is the fact that FAAC's automatic entrances comply with all the necessary certification regulations in terms of burglar-proofing, shatter-proofing and panic-proofing".

Those entering the "Europa Experience" from Piazza Venezia do so via two SKR35 RD automatic armoured pedestrian entrances, a solution that combines maximum security with attention to aesthetics and functionality. Inside, visitors will also find an automatic sliding door entrance with A1400 automation and integrated anti-panic system and a CoMETA (an industry leader recently acquired by FAAC) revolving door, model CO146.230. The 2.30-metre diameter ensures a high flow; the revolving door also integrates an access control system and unique passages.
